Costs
No AdWords costs this month.
Signed up for Findology, but have yet to start any campaigns.
Total costs: $0.00

October Earnings: $718.21

September Earnings: $335.79
This represents a 214% improvement month-over-month.

Mortgage Goal
As you may recall, my goal is to earn enough each month through AdSense and affiliate marketing to cover the cost of my monthly mortgage payment. For the sake of the experiment, we’re saying it’s $1500/month.

This month I earned $718.21 profit, which is 48% of the way there. I have until June 2009 to hit my goal, so that leaves me with 8 more months to make up the remaining 52%.

Concerns going forward
As I had mentioned in a previous post, my main contributing site has seen it’s traffic dive in recent days. By dive, I mean traffic has reduced by about 75% (natural, search engine traffic). This concerns me because unless things pick up again, November earnings could potentially be 75% lower than October earnings.

  • WOW Rory – you’re doing very well!

What’s your secret with adsense and clickbank? Do you maintain a lot of sites? Come on, spill the beans!!!

  • :) Thanks Heather.

I’ll be sure to do a post soon. I have 5 sites. But only 2 make money. And out of those 2, 1 dominates.

Unfortunately, Google is playing with my heart these days and I’m making only dollars a day at the moment. I hope the rankings revert back to where they were before!

  • Hey Rory, thanks for your visit. I was here the other day checking out your earnings. I keep a Google alert for whenever someone mentions Amazon Associates, great tool for keeping up to date with stuff. Keep up your great work. I started off doing affiliate marketing while I worked as a programmer for other people. Little by little, I was able to make affiliate marketing my full time gig. I’m not rich yet, but I do pay the bills, lol.

For me, I’ve found lots of success with the Amazon Associates program. Some people find it difficult or don’t like the commission rate, but ultimately, I think it’s one of the best programs since its developer friendly, and because they have the largest scope of products to work with. I’d recommend taking a fresh new look at the program if you haven’t messed with it recently.

  • eZanga.com is a search engine that launched their updated site recently. They specialize in PPC advertising making it faster and easier to obtain search results, narrowing results based on relevancy and location which can drive more traffic to your business and/or website.

eZanga’s site has great features such as time targeting, enabling you to schedule campaigns to run at specific times throughout the day and specific days of the week, and customize the running time of your campaign to circulate the most traffic at the best time. You can also create white-lists and black-lists to increase the traffic that you want (white) and block the illegitimate traffic (black). This allows you to manage your budget when dealing with specific categories and feeds.

HopOnThis.com (eZanga’s social network) updated their contests; you can earn points to use toward cash and prizes for interacting on the site, some of the ways to earn points are: updating a blog, inviting a friend, and adding a picture.

  • You’re having awesome results with Clickbank! Nice work. Any helpful hints?
And congrats on winning the printer from Techvibes!

  • Hi Karilyn,

    Thanks!

The only thing I can suggest with Clickbank so far is to be choosy about the products you sell. Find ones with good landing pages.

As affiliate marketers, we can only pre-sell Clickbank products. Then it’s up to the product’s landing page to seal the deal. If it’s crap, then it doesn’t matter how much selling we do.

And thanks about the printer too!

  • Nice…Better than working for minimum wage at a dead end Jay. Oh. Bee. Especially in California, where the living expenses is too freak’n high! My chains are weakening; I’m about to break free!!!
